The Holy Week in Tarifa it is increasingly well known outside the city and generates great tourist interest thanks to the effort and dedication of its brotherhoods throughout the year. All those months of preparation and enthusiasm are clearly rewarded when the images go out in procession through the streets of Tarifa.
Brotherhoods
In Tarifa there are 8 brotherhoods of Passion: Nazareno, Consuelo, Salud, Santo Entierro, Borriquita, Medinaceli, Soledad y Oración del Huerto, las cuales aguardan su Semana Grande en las iglesias de San Mateo and of San Francisco.
The Meeting
Faithful and brothers bury the golden passage that keeps Jesus the Nazarene on high. They open the way for him to meet the Virgin of Peace. The oldest brotherhood in Tarifa has been waiting all year for Holy Thursday. They know the streets inside out and one of the greatest responsibilities of the celebration falls on their backs. For this reason, while they advance, silence becomes law.
Holy Week in Tarifa is one of the most reputable in Campo de Gibraltar. Perhaps because of the privileged environment offered by the old town that seems to whisper prayers that accompany the processional parades.
